Susan Powell

Sue is a watercolour painter, Artrepreneur and has an immense wealth of experience in economic development and community building. In 2009, Sue was awarded Hills of Headwaters Artisan of the Year. In 2014, Silver Creek Arts Project was awarded the Hills of Headwaters Artisan of the Year. Susan was one of the 6 artists in the project. 

She is a leader in the creative economy. Her innovation powers the engine of growth and community vitality. Sue has been involved with a variety of tourism undertakings in a volunteer capacity, working with the arts and culture sector, and participating as an artist, advocate and champion for the award-winning Headwaters Parade of Horses, Hills of Erin Studio Tour, and back in the day, the successfully presented additional, themed art shows (Disappearing Landscapes, Home and Hearth and War and Peace) for the Headwaters Arts Festival at SGI Centre. These shows attracted both emerging and mid-career artists and offered yet another venue for art patrons to see the wealth of talent in the Region. Her volunteer work in the tourism sector was recognized in 2016 when she was the winner of the Tourism Champion of the Year. 

Susan has presented her work at Figureworks Art Show in Ottawa, Art-in-the- Park in both Oakville and Milton, Silver Creek Arts Project Open Studio, Hills of Erin Studio Tour, Fresh Air Fresh Art Show in Etobicoke and at many conference driven pop-up art gallery installations where she was the primary organizer.

Sue lives in the Town of Erin and recently retired from the provincial government where she was a Rural Economic Development Consultant with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. She received the Shamrock Award for Citizenship and Outstanding Community Service from the Town of Erin in 2016. She is currently working on projects uniting the arts, artists and agri-culture.
